Its YOUR BIKE and YOUR ADVENTURE!
Try to imagine a small carry bag that contains the contents to convert a standard mountain bike into a compact water-going, pedal powered craft – Neil Vanner from New Zealand did and the result is extraordinary.
The Akwakat is a compact and lightweight conversion set that temporarily transforms any hard tail mountain bike into a twin inflatable hull water bike enabling the rider to take their adventure beyond the trails and roads.
An ingenious drive system results in the Akwakat being sleek and fast on the water while maintaining good stability due to its streamlined design. The inflatable pontoons, folding drive shaft and front rudder all fit comfortably into a carry bag with a total weight of less than 12kg making the Akwakat waterbike incredibly portable and easy to transport and store between adventures.
Do not confuse the Akwakat waterbike with a pedal-boat, they are two entirely different products – the Akwakat waterbike uses a standard, non-modified hard tail mountain bike that can be converted back to a standard bike within minutes of reaching the shore, and the lightweight construction results in a draft of only 350mm allowing the rider to easily glide to shore – so the Akwakat takes you from weekday commuting to the office to weekend exploration of your favourite lakes and rivers, and all in one compact carry bag and without a special bike.
The ability for a standard mountainbike to now travel on land and water opens up many possibilities and one of the largest being Eco-Tourism. Bike tours that also include water tours mean adventures with a difference and are something never achieved like this before. Reduce your carbon footprint at the same time as seeing more than you ever have before, and at the same time doing something awesome for your body!

WHAT WE DO?
At Akwakat what we do is attract lots of attention, probably because this waterbike actually looks cool! Its versatile, lightweight, agile, and most important of all its FAST.
Akwakat has featured on New Zealand network news, recently been filmed as part of a Japanese tourism program about New Zealand, been featured on numerous web techno sites, published in a Swedish science magazine, and been seen in newspapers all over New Zealand - why? because its cool!
The best thing we do though is allow you to embark on a new adventure, taking your bike where its never been before.
Imagine the places you can now visit, and be able to do so under your own power so not only are you getting fit and experiencing new places, you're doing your bit to save the planet!
And when you're done - put in back in its bag, chuck it in the wardrobe, and carry on riding your bike to work.
