MEET THE AKWAKAT TEAM

Akwakat waterbikes for your new cycling adventure

Neil - the Engineer, cyclist, adventurer, and inventor

At 21 Neil packed his bags and headed for Europe to race against the big boys. A season of rubbing shoulders with top amateurs, old and neo pros, returned some good results.

On returning to NZ he studied engineering and continued to compete on and off the road.

A combination of engineering and a passion for cycling led Neil to become the first cyclist to cross Cook Strait, a 30km stretch of wild ocean separating New Zealand’s North & South Islands.

They said it couldn’t be done but that didn’t stop him.

Neil leads our design team at Akwakat.

Bart - the plastics engineer and boating fanatic!

You need an enthusiastic boatie and water ski nut when you're making a product like this, and on top of that Bart just happens to be a plastics engineer with a team of designers, toolmakers, and engineers on staff.

Water skiing and boating are Bart's big passions so add to that his interest in cycling and he fits into the team just nicely!

Greg - the marketing department and enthusiastic cyclist

Watching the project with interest from its early days Greg joined forces with Neil to work on market development and explore the project's potential to go commercial.

A late starter into cycling Greg equally enjoys the road and the trails with his family and friends riding socially and in competition.

"Akwakat is no longer just a project or concept - it's a reality and about to become the new cycling sensation" says Greg.

Greg is the companies first point of contact for clients and develops and implements the marketing programs.
